14 More Health System Leaders to Design 'Smart Hospital' Model

The concept of a "smart hospital" has been around for a while, but a survey released this month by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and digital health company Care.ai shows just how far the concept has fallen.

The survey, which will be released over the summer, defines a smart hospital as one that uses technology to not only improve the quality of care but also to save money, the Washington Post reports.

The survey, which will be published at the CHIME fall forum, was designed to determine the maturity model for a smart hospital, which will be defined by the panel of 14 new advisory panel members who have been added to the 30 other health system executives who have been working with Care.ai on the project.

The new advisory panel members are: Marguerite Cunningham, DNP, Chief Nursing Informatics Officer, Inova; Mark Eimer, Chief Technology Officer, Meridian Health; Stan Fuller, MD, Chief Clinical Officer, Novant Health; Michael Hasselberg, PhD, RN, Chief Digital Health Officer, University of Rochester; Omkar Kulkarni, Chief Transformation and Digital Officer, Children's Hospital Los Angeles; Craig Kwiatkowski, PharmD, CIO, Cedars-Sinai; Karen Murphy, PhD, RN, Senior
