"Hello, my name is Hal.

And if you talk to me, I'll talk back."

That's how Hal, a life-like mannequin, begins his greeting at the Center for Simulation Innovation at the University of Texas San Antonio School of Nursing, the San Antonio Express-News reports.

He's just one of a number of life-like mannequins that adorn the 7,300-square-foot simulation hospital and 6,500-square-foot skills lab on the main campus of the UT Health San Antonio School of Nursing.

Other mannequins range from Vivien, a woman with skin that "seems creepily real to the touch," to Victoria, an expectant-mother with newborns in individual cribs, per the Express-News.

The goal of the Center for Simulation Innovation is to prepare nursing students and health care professionals for the real things they'll encounter in a hospital or clinic.

But it's also one of only three schools in the state with accreditation from the prestigious Society for Simulation in Healthcare in the area of Teaching and Education.

"It's an international body and it truly validates the work we do at the highest level, showing that we are on par with industry standards for simulation delivery," lab director James Cleveland tells the Express-
