Insights from the Wilcoxin Innovation in Health Sciences Summit

The Roy Blunt Health Science Innovation Center broke ground Thursday on a $45 million, 100,000-square-foot building at Missouri State University in Joplin that will house a new medical and dental schools, as well as a new health sciences building to be built in the fall of 2026, the Joplin Globe reports.

The Roy Blunt Health Science Innovation Center will be the first of its kind in the US, according to a press release.

It's expected to create 300 new medical and dental jobs and help transform the way medical care is delivered in the US by using technology such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and 3D printing.

It's also expected to reduce the time it takes to complete a medical degree from four years to two years by using state-of-the-art equipment.

The press release notes that the center will also focus on lifestyle medicine, which includes diet, exercise, and vaccinations.

Dr.rry Whiteman, coordinator of MSSU's Healthcare Administration, tells the Globe that lifestyle medicine is expected to be a major focus of the new health sciences building.

"Sixty percent of adult Americans have at least one chronic disease, the over 65-year-old population is almost twenty percent of the American population so we have to find a way to maintain health,"
