A set of Silicon Vally billionaires are seeking to usher in grand changes to how research is conducted in academia and how it is perceived by peer researchers, to its workings and its outcome.
Wealthy donors who set up foundations to fund academic researches and bringing its results to market is requesting major changes in how researchers expect how their effort will be utilized, academically and financially. This is very welcome. The attitude of finding answer to big problem and claiming fame and reward for themselves is very last century attitude.
