The State of Tennessee is doing something about its growing drug problem. Cherokee Health is one of the hospitals that was granted over $300 thousand to help combat this problem. There are over 1 million patients dealing with this issue. Cherokee Health System is located in East Tennessee and had limited resources to help patients deal with drug problems.
Now Cherokee Health will now have more specialists on hand to help the addiction problems. Before, there were waiting lists for patients to get treatment. With this grant and bringing the needed people into the hospital, patients will get the help that they need on an outpatient basis. This is good news because some patients were even buying drugs before caring for their needs at home.
