'Read United Buddies' volunteer program expands for 2024-25 school year.
United Way of the Coastal Empire, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Savannah and the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) seeking volunteer buddies.
The program launched last fall as a pilot program for second-grader students on the cusp of reading proficiency.
According to the Georgia Department of Education, 57% of second graders read on or above grade level.
