The American Diabetes Association is holding its 28th annual Leaders Forum HealthTech Showcase in San Mateo, Calif., on Nov.
3, and it's looking for early-stage tech companies that can help people with diabetes.
The event, which is open to "life science leaders, business professionals, angel investors, and venture capitalists," offers executives the chance to meet with more than 50 startup companies focused on "unmet medical needs," per a press release.
Attendees then vote for the most innovative startup of the day, with the winner receiving a $10,000 prize.
"The Leaders Forum HealthTech Showcase is what Silicon Valley is about: innovation, technology, and progress," says Karen Talmadge, chair of the ADA's National Board of Directors.
"It offers healthcare investors and experts visibility into the newest concepts from entrepreneurs in any medical area, while contributing to an important cause."
Nearly half of American adults have diabetes or prediabetes, and "the impact on the patient, their family, and our society is profoundly underestimated," says Talmadge, who co-founded the showcase.
