A new A&E documentary looks at the future of the soybean, one of the most sustainable crops on the planet.
Breaking: A Story of Innovation takes a look at how the crop has evolved over the past 150 years, from its arrival in the US from China in the 1880s to its use in everything from soy sauce to plastic for Henry Ford's soybean car, reports Entertainment Weekly.
The film also looks at soy's potential to replace fossil fuels, as well as its health benefits for humans and animals.
"The soybean's increasing versatility, driven by our ability to innovate and collaborate with industry and academic partners, will allow me to pass this land down to my son and leave a legacy of sustainability driven by the next generation," says a soybean farmer in Indiana featured in the documentary.
