Ron DeSantis has signed three new bills into law, including one that makes it easier for environmental health technicians to conduct septic tank inspections without a four-year degree, WPLG reports.
The billsSenate Bill 1582, Senate Bill 7072, and House Bill 885were signed at a Tuesday press conference at Miami's Nicklaus Children's Hospital, where DeSantis' young son, Andrew, is being treated for a rare form of pediatric cancer.
"By promoting innovation, facilitating data sharing, and expanding resources dedicated to cancer, Florida is significantly elevating its fight against this disease," says Casey DeSantis, the governor's wife, in a press release.
The Andrew Anderson Pediatric Rare Disease Grant Program will fund research to advance treatments for rare pediatric diseases.
The Casey DeSantis Cancer Research Program will promote innovative healthcare solutions for cancer patients in Florida and recommend policies related to cancer research and treatment.
