Community Foundation Announces Host of First-Quarter Awards


Foundation: Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties

The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties has announced it has awarded more than $2 million in grants to organizations and initiatives primarily in the areas of human services, health, arts and culture, and education.

In February, the Community Foundation invited Herkimer and Oneida county nonprofits to apply for its 2024, Health, and Sciences Grant Round.

Eight organizations received funding totaling more than $87,000, including: Clinton Central School District Foundation for summer programsMasonic Medical Research Institute for summer fellowship programRescue Mission of Utica to provide products and services at a drop-in center for those who are homeless; Thea Bowman House for the Reading Rockets Summer Reading ProgramUpstate Caring Partners for early intervention assessments; and Utica RISE (Rehabilitation and Integrative Services for Everyone) for expansion of physical therapy clinic.

The grants are made possible through the generosity of donors and organizations that create funds at the Community Foundation.
