It's not every day that a construction worker dies on the job, but it's not every day that a battery-powered tool is found in his or her toolbox.
That's why Frank Mannarino, president ofDEWALT, is pushing a new line of concrete tools that, unlike gas- or corded-powered tools, can be powered by a battery, the Consumerist reports.
"The most obvious benefit is the elimination of cords, which are trip and fall hazards and can be cut on the job leading to fines," Mannarino says in a press release.
"Typically electric tools are battery-powered.
With the evolution of battery-operated tools, users are exposed to less noise and less fumes and typically electric tools are flying on the job, ensuring constant awareness of potential hazards."
Other benefits of battery-powered tools, per Mannarino: They're quieter and easier to use, and they're better for workers' mental and physical health, the press release notes.
The tools also come with a built-in whistle to help workers stay hydrated, the Consumerist notes.
