The World Health Organization is celebrating Vaccination Week in the Americas this week, and it's highlighting some of the ways health departments across the region are working to make vaccines available to as many people as possible.
The PAHO has posted more than 15 experiences from across the region, including a mobile vaccination unit in Uruguay that travels to various points in Montevideo to provide vaccination in areas of high traffic and movement, a cross-border vaccination between Mexico and Guatemala to provide vaccination in areas of high traffic and movement, and a campaign in the Bahamas where people are encouraged to express their feelings using plush dolls.
"We created a digital space to recognize the innovative work and tireless efforts that countries have made to recover vaccination coverage in recent years and ensure a healthy future for all," Dr. Daniel Salas, executive manager of the Special Program for Comprehensive Immunization at PAHO, says in a press release.
"We look forward to continuing to nurture this digital and collaborative space that we have dedicated to experiences promoting vaccination."
