Bad news, Binge Eating Disorder sufferers: You're not alone.
A record number of Canadian researchers have been awarded government funding as part of a program designed to help exceptional early-career researchers access the latest equipment and technology, the Toronto Star reports.
The 10 researchersone-fifth of all Early Researcher Awards awarded in Ontario, Canadawill each receive up to $100,000 for their research projects.
One of the recipients, social science professor Lindsay Bodell, plans to test whether negative emotions, such as sadness, lead to binge-eating by using behavioral and brain imaging methods.
Her team will provide trainees with " specialized clinical and research expertise, enhancing Ontario's mental health workforce, and increasing the province's international research presence," Western University says in a press release.
Another recipient, Emma Duerden, plans to develop biomarkers for preterm birth to help predict which fetuses need to be delivered early.
The team will also work to develop sustainable chemistry for energy research by preparing new functional molecules and materials to promote the equitable use of resources.
