The UN has set a goal of reducing deaths from malaria, diarrhea, and heat-related diseases by a third by 2030and it's all about making sure people have timely access to health care, Quartz reports.
According to a UN report, 250,000 more deaths will occur annually between 2030 and 2050 because of climate change-related diseases, including malaria, diarrhea, and heat-related illnesses.
And that's not all.
The report states climate-related illnesses are responsible for higher rates of malnutrition and mental health, as well as straining health infrastructure in hard-to-reach regions.
In addition, the report states climate-related disasters, such as floods and droughts, have already had an impact on health in hard-to-reach regions.
That's why the UN is calling for digital health to be a "beacon of hope" in meeting the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 3, or SDG 3, which focuses on good health and well-being.
According to a press release, digital health can provide "accessible, cost-effective, and resilient healthcare services."
And it's already being used to fight cholera and malaria in countries like Syria, Bangladesh, South Sudan, and Mozambique.
But the report states there's more to be done
