British retailer M&S has become the first major retailer in the UK to offer a " Gut Shot," a product that claims to help "support better digestive function," per a press release.
The product, a collaboration with nutrition-science company ZOE, is packed with fiber and calcium from 14 strains of friendly bacteria and tastes " delicious," says ZOE co-founder Jonathan Wolf.
M&S, which says it aims to have 70% of its food sales come from healthier products by 2025, has already removed MSG from some of its products and says its " expertise in product development, quality, and innovation" helped it come up with the "groundbreaking science" for the Gut Shot, which is also packed with vitamins C and B6, per the BBC.
"At M&S we want all of our food to be exceptional," Freudmann adds.
"We always ensure a healthy choice is a delicious choice, and we're proud to be at the forefront of gut health innovation."
