Experts Warn That Global Health Challenges Will Demand Unprecedented Leadership

A new commission set up by the Lancet medical journal to chart the world's future of global health is calling for more diverse and inclusive leadership in the field, the Guardian reports.

"We can't afford to work in silos but need to adopt bigger thinking if we want to address the sustainable development targets that are needed to achieve the inclusive and equitable leadership that are essential moving us forward," says Ian Walmsley, provost of Imperial College London.

The Lancet Commission, co-led by Imperial's Helena Legido-Quigley, aims to set out goals for the Lancet in 2025.

Among them: ensuring equal representation in leadership roles, increasing the fight against non-communicable diseases, and stepping up the fight against climate change.
