Five Key Levers for Sustainable Healthcare

Royal Philips Electronics is taking a page out of Al Gore's book with a pledge to cut its greenhouse-gas emissions by a third by 2024.

In a blog post, the Dutch company says it plans to reduce energy use in its medical equipment by 30% by the end of the century and slash carbon dioxide emissions by a third by the end of the same year.

The company says its goal is to cut energy use in its medical products by 25% by the end of this year and 50% by the end of the century.

"We've been given a warning by science and a wake-up call by nature; it is up to us now to heed them," the company's CEO says in the post.
